Governor Haslam Announces Workforce Development Grant Recipients

By Jennifer Cobb

Governor Haslam's office awarded the Nashville Technology Council an $850,000 state grant to team up with Nashville State Community College, Columbia State Community College, and Vol State Community College to increase enrollment and graduation rates in their technology programs. The Labor Education Alignment Program (LEAP) money will help the Tech Council team deliver more skilled IT professionals to the market.

The Nashville Technology Council was one of twelve grant recipients chosen by the Governor’s Workforce Subcabinet, consisting of Commissioners and staff from the Tennessee Board of Regents, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Tennessee Department of Education, the Tennessee Department of Human Services, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
